Description
This lecture by Dr Marie Coleman, will explore the result of the last all-Ireland general election, held in December 1918 after the end of the First World War. The manifestos of the main parties, the result of the election - nationally and in particular locally in Ulster, and the wider significance for Anglo-Irish relations will be examined. It will also look at the work of the first Dáil Éireann established on foot of Sinn Féin's electoral success.
