Description

Artist-in-residence at The MAC, Belfast for the opening of the large-scale community project and exhibition Sounds of the City (April 2012). Work carried out during this residency included recorded interviews with patrons and pedestrians in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter on the subject of the area's controversial urban development. There were edited into five short documentary audio sketches. These sketches show the initial stages in the processes of editing and signal processing which was further developed in the longer piece 'Dynamic Neglect'. These shorter works also make more of an attempt to engage with the soundscapes surrounding each voice. The sketches were played back at a public event at the conclusion of the artist residency, along with two workshops that invited visitors to work with the audio signal processing I had been working with.
