Description

Presented on 'Intersecting Identities and Expanding the Analytic Lens on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence' panel.

Despite increased attention to the incidence of CRSV against boys and men, as well as gender and sexual minorities, there is an analytical omission of CRSV committed against bodies that do not as cribe to mainstream social and gender norms. This panel will discuss how binary gender norms, racism and colonialism may have influenced not only CRSV patterns but also scholarly and policy work. How do intersecting identities affect the vulnerability of specific bodies to CRSV? What kind of policy interventions are necessary to close the gap on intersecting identities and CRSV? What are positive examples of efforts to close this analytic and policy gap?
