Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesParticipation in Festival/Exhibition

Description

Traces of the Past gives faces and names to the victims 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and the accompanying video installation brings the voices of survivors to you. They tell their stories of survival and meaning-making in the face of unbelievable loss and suffering. Traces of the Past displays objects that materialise the everyday of the past: laughter, togetherness and precious family moments full of joy. At the same time, through these testimonial objects survivors recount inhumane acts of violence, the failure of humanity, how worlds broke apart and how we dearly hold on to what is lost: memories, photographs and objects that connect and keep us close to those whose present absence we encounter every day.
