Description
This was a pioneering conference on gender and transport organised by the Journal of Transport History and the University of York. I was invited to speak on the basis of my recently published monograph The car in British society: class, gender and motoring 1896-1939 (Manchester University Press). My paper was 'Gender and motoring in the UK'.
