United Nations General Assembly: High-Level Sessions at the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, 2023

As members of the Early Childhood Peace Consortium, Dr Laura Dunne, Professor Sarah Miller and Professor Paul Connolly (UU) have been invited by the Permanent Missions of Chile, Ireland, and Colombia, to attend and contribute to two High-Level Sessions at the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York on 28th September.
The first invitation was to a panel session entitled “Early Childhood Development: Pathways to Sustainable Peace” at the United Nations Secretariat. This event presented scientific evidence around early childhood development and social cohesion/peacebuilding and showcase best practices from around the world over the last 25 years.
The second event was a reception at UNICEF House which underlined early childhood development as a critical investment to achieve sustainable development and peace through an artistic performance. The reception will reflect earlier discussions at the UN Secretariat and offer an opportunity for practitioners, academics, and policy-makers to exchange ideas and initiatives around early childhood development and peace.

The team shared their learning on early childhood development and peacebuilding from the LINKS project, explore new networks, and built on existing partnerships with UNICEF and Yale University, Harvard and NYU.
