Description

These weekly Canvas VLE Drop-In Sessions provided informal, responsive support for staff during the initial Canvas VLE rollout period. The sessions were facilitated by Dr Matt Birch and offered one-to-one and small-group assistance.

Staff used the sessions to ask questions related to module setup, content organisation, assessment configuration, and troubleshooting. More advanced staff used the time to work with Matt on quizzing tools, game builds, and other value-adding interactive activities. The drop-in model supported inclusivity, personalised learning and reduced barriers to engagement.

The sessions supported QUB’s Our People and Technology priorities and aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education) through targeted staff support.

These clinics formed part of a highly successful Canvas VLE Rollout Programme in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and beyond in 2018–2019, which led to Dr Matt Birch receiving an Outstanding Leadership Award at the Queen’s University Staff Excellence Awards.
