Title Social Innovation: An instrument for sustainable development Degree of recognition International Media name/outlet Advent Group Media type Other Duration/Length/Size 40 minutes Country/Territory United Kingdom Date 26/01/2022 Description The Module gets to the heart of exploring what the business of business is in today’s marketplace. Using applied case studies it explores how organisations can achieve long term success by creating social and economic value for stakeholders/shareholders, and wider society. Todays’ rapidly changing and increasingly interdependent world, characterised by complex social problems, economic uncertainty, and globalisation, requires leaders with creative and collaborative solutions. Social innovation extends the potential for inventing and scaling solutions in a creative and positive way to address systemic social and environmental issues that challenge business growth and sustainability.
In a world where businesses increasingly need to do more with less, organisations are adopting new business models to create greater value through collaborative networks. Capitalising on the potential to demonstrate greater social and economic value through networks requires leaders with an understanding of how to engage multiple stakeholders in value creation and value capture processes. Through practical exercises, this module offers students a unique opportunity to explore how greater economic value can be generated while simultaneously solving societal challenges and needs. In combination with the Leadership, and Social Entrepreneurship modules, this Module aims to understand, and develop your leadership capacity to design and manage business models that maximise the co-creation of social and economic value.
