Health Matters for Seniors and an Evening of Chat with Mickey Harte, Jarlath Burns and Kevin Madden

 

Our health is our wealth, and as the years pass by, the importance of awareness of health matters increases.

 

An opportunity for older men to address issues which could affect them is on offer at a special event at the Tyrone GAA Centre of Excellence at Garvaghey on Wednesday 13 November.

 

And some leading GAA personalities will participate in an event which promises to be both educational and entertaining.

 

Dr Aidan Cole, a consultant in clinical oncology, will deliver a talk on the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

 

Dr Cole is a key member of a dynamic clinical academic team enhancing research into the treatment of the condition, based at Queen’s University Belfast.

 

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte and GAA presidential candidate Jarlath Burns, as well as Tyrone’s new coach Kevin Madden will engage in a discussion with MC Noel McGinn, on the pressing issues of gaelic games, on and off the field of play.

 

The event, which is being organised by Tyrone GAA’s Health and Wellbeing Committee, begins at 6.30 and will be over by 9pm. No registration is necessary and admission is free.

 

It is primarily aimed at older males, but everyone is welcome.

 

“One of our objectives in Tyrone Health and Wellbeing (HWC) is to organise events for older members of our communities as part of our Social Initiative Programme,” said Tyrone HWC chairman Malachi McCann.

 

“For a number of years now we have organised bus trips to Croke Park in the Autumn, all of which have been well attended and adulated by attendees.

 

“In keeping with the same age profile and with a particular emphasis on our senior males, we felt that we should give them the opportunity to congregate in Garvaghey, have a look around and then meet in the Auditorium for an evening of talks and topical discussion.  The 13^th November – a night to remember.”

 

Everyone attending will also be able to avail of a guided tour of the Garvaghey Centre.
