DescriptionAn extract for Suzanne Foy's review of Release:

"I saw Declan after the viewing. I told him that the greatest quality of the film lay in his ability as a filmmaker to set his ‘ego’ aside, to let each story unfold and trust that the stories could speak for themselves, i.e. there was no need for fancy visual effects or lengthy video footage of the Troubles. Each selected film/photo shown provides context, and he went to some lengths to find images that were directly connected to each man’s story/journey. For me this film is an exercise in deep breathing, i.e. each story is like a long exhalation – and seeing how far/deep you could delve into the story/journey – immediately followed by an inhalation which prepares you for the next story and allows both the men as a collective and the audience to soak in the many lessons/insights shared among the men about their past, present and future journey"
