DescriptionSinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon has said she will be requesting a meeting with the PSNI to raise concerns over findings from research conducted by Queen’s University, Belfast on non security-related stop and search and young people.

    Linda Dillon said:

“We are very concerned that the survey findings call into question whether police are giving young people the information they deserve on why they are being stopped, are using the stop and search power properly, or are keeping official records systematically when a stop and search encounter is engaged.

“We are also concerned that young, urban males are being disproportionately affected. This makes for a worrying picture.

“We will be requesting a meeting with the PSNI and raising these concerns directly with them.”
