Descriptionhttps://www.qub.ac.uk/News/Allnews/Strongestlinkyetbetweennitritesandcancer-butnotallprocessedmeathassamerisk.html Together with companies, Karro, Cranswick and Finnebrogue Artisan. I was awarded funding from the AgriFoodQuest Invest NI competency centre to investigate health concerns resulting from the addition of sodium nitrites to meat products. This project has been very successful in raising awareness of this issue. Our first research publication lead to a press release which generated more news articles (370) in 2019 than any other in my School/Institute across >11 countries including USA, Australia, India, France, Turkey, Nigeria and Singapore. I also gave television (BBC Newline) and radio (BBC, RTE, East Coast FM) interviews. A further 2 publications from this project are being drafted along with a further press release planned.
