Leon Litvack, Principal Editor of the Charles Dickens Letters Project and world authority on the author's handwriting and manuscripts, spotted two forgeries being offered at auction by Fonsie Mealy’s in Kilkenny.

When he alerted the auctioneers to the fakes, they withdrew them from sale.
