Dataset for "MANiC: Multi-step Assessment for Crypto-miners"

This dataset contains the results and raw data taken from (i) the paper "MANiC: Multi-step Assessment for Crypto-miners".

The dataset was also used in (ii) the paper "Detecting Cryptomining Using Dynamic Analysis.

Both of these papers are linked to this record.

The data was collected from the Alexa top 1 million websites (as indexed by Censys) in July 2018.

* Password for any ZIP folders is: "infected." Note that some files are password protected e.g. Script Script files, Chrome HTML documents etc.

benign.txt - List of URLs with no miners detected
malicious.txt - List of URLs identified for mining scripts
suspicious.txt - List of suspicious URLs (no miner was detected but a suspicious keyword was found - keyword is the first column)
failed.txt - List of URLs that failed to run through Scrapy
log.txt - Log from Scrapy output
results.json - Results of parsed mining scripts in JSON format
results.db - Results of parsed mining scripts in SQLite format - HTML files of sites hosting mining scripts - JavaScript files holding the extracted mining scripts (from the HTML files)
manual analysis - Analysis of results, reasons why sites were correctly/incorrectly labelled malicious/suspicious
