The dataset shows typical radiographic images of the background plasma taken with a laser-driven proton beam. The features described in the article, namely the magnetic fields left in the wake of the electron-positron beam, are extracted from the detailed analysis of these images aided by particle-tracing simulations. The dataset relates to the article: “Experimental observation of a current-driven instability in a neutral electron-positron beam” currently accepted for publication in Physical Review Letters.
