Description
Photographs taken by Emma McAlister of religious objects, exhibits about religion or ritual being performed in museums, heritage sites and museum stores. These photographs were taken in Ireland, UK and the Netherlands in the following museums: The Ulster Museum, Belfast, Ulster Folk Museum, Cultra, St Mungo's Museum of Religious Life and Art, Glasgow, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, The Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow, Glasgow Museums Resource Centre and The National Museum of Ireland, Dublin. The exhibitions are of multiple religions including: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Each museum portrays religion and what it is to be religious in various ways. These photographs relate to numerous disciplines such as religious studies, philosophy, museum studies, heritage studies, public history, history, design, art and art history.
