Description
The Queen’s University Belfast Sustainability Hackathon Dataset (QUB-SHD) provides a structured, anonymised record of organisational design and participant experiences from multiple sustainability-focused hackathons delivered within a higher education context. The dataset captures both event-level metadata, such as themes, duration, structure, and expected deliverables, and participant-level survey responses collected immediately following each hackathon. These surveys document demographics, prior hackathon experience, motivations for participation, perceptions of inclusivity and support, and self-reported learning outcomes.
The data are organised in a relational CSV format linking individual participant responses to their corresponding hackathon events, enabling cross-event comparison and analysis of how design choices influence participant engagement and perceived impact. All data were collected under institutional ethical approval, with informed consent obtained from participants and identifying information removed prior to publication.
