Description of impact
This project involved hosting a series of 6 weekly reading groups for four separate groups:a) QUB Social work students
b) the general public
c) carers, recruited through Alzheimer's Society UK
d) people living with dementia recruited through Dementia NI.
Using extracts from fiction selected according to the project mind style research, we explored participants' responses to the fictional language and its potential to facilitate awareness about dementia and empathy towards those living with the condition. It was important to include Group D to understand the relationship of the fictional depictions with lived experiences.
