Improving motor and non-motor symptoms in people with Parkinson's disease through dance

Description of impact

My PhD student Anna Carapellotti and I run a 12-week (2 times/week) dance intervention for people with Parkinson's disease in the autumn of 2018. This was part of Anna's PhD research. We are continuing with classes once per week until June 2019.

Who is affected

People with Parkinson's disease in the local community

This research on the benefits of dance produced impact as it was performed. Participants benefited from the programme, they attended regularly and still attend the classes and provided very positive comments to us, to a BBC radio documentary and a video we are preparing for teaching and publicity purposes.
