Measure & Dido

Impact: Cultural Impact

Description of impact

Professional productions of a Restoration version of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, that included Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. The productions, which starred Sir Derek Jacobi, arose directly from the practice-based research workshop that I co-directed at the Folger Shakespeare Library in 2014. The productions were mounted at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center (California) and the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, DC), with contributions from the Folger Consort music ensemble (Washington, DC).
