Research Interests

Dr. Alessandro Ferraro is a Senior Lecturer in Quantum Information and Head of the research Centre for Theoretical Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics (CTAMOP), where he was appointed in 2013. After being awarded his PhD from the University of Milan (Italy) in 2005, he was research fellow at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (Barcelona, 2006-2009), Autonomous University of Barcelona (2010), and University College London (UK, 2011-2012), funding his research via a number of fellowships and grants – including the Juan De La Cierva (Spain) and Marie Curie (EU) fellowships.

Ferraro's research focuses mainly on quantum information with continuous variables and quantum optics. He authored a book that is considered a standard reference in the field. His research on more fundamental aspects of quantum correlations and non-locality has also been recognised of the highest academic impact. He also contributed with various publications to the research at the interface between quantum information, quantum machine learning and many-body quantum systems.
