I have a background in Intensive Care Nursing and Nurse Education. Following a considerable time out of education and practice I returned to academia and complteetd my PhD in 2020 at Ulster University. My thesis investigated young adults undertanding of palliative care from a public health perspective.
The focus of my present research relates to co-designing an e--resource for care home nurses to support resilience. We are also co-producing with first year nursing and midwifery students a resource to help support their resilience and wellbeing.
I am part of a team co-designing a training resource for health care professionals to help understand and support the intimacy, sexuality and reslationship needs of people living with Dementia.
I really enjoy research and have a particular interest in mixed methods research.
My research interests include public health approaches to palliative care, and community engagement with end of life care. I am passionate about developing ways of supporting the resilience of care home staff enhancing visibility and recognition for these key workers who have such an important role in our health and social care system.
