Research Statement
A Registered Public Health Nutritionist, research interests fall within the area of public health nutrition, specifically collecting and examining data arising from national food consumption surveys such as intakes of foods, dietary supplements, food ingredients and nutrients. Also interested in relating this data to health outcomes including biomarkers of nutritional status and of metabolic health. A specific research interest is in modelling risk of exposure to food borne chemicals, she is experienced in the dissemination of public health messages using a variety of media.
Module coordinator of the Undergraduate module Nutrition Pathways in Health and Disease (BIO3001) on the Food Quality, Safety and Nutrition BSc Programme and the MSci Resarch projects for Food Science and Food Security (BIO3202) and Food Science and Nutrition (BIO4303). I also contribute to modules BIO1302 (Fundamentals of Nutrition and Physiology), BIO1311 (Sustainable Food Systems), BIO2302 (Food Innovation, Diet and Health), BIO3301 (Food Supply Chain Safety and Security), ALU8001 & BIO4101 (Food Safety, Health and Disease), LFE 8031 (Foundations for Sustainable Development). Supervises Honours projects for Food Safety, Quality and Nutrition students (BSc and MSci), the Distance Learning Programme and Biology students (BSc) and Advanced Food Safety (MSc).
