Personal profile
Particulars
I am a Specialist Clinical Psychologist and completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Queen’s University, graduating in 2021. Since qualifying I have worked in Psychology of Older Peoples Services in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, and have a clinical interest in embedding the use of non-pharmacological interventions in response to behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and in the use of Compassion Focused Therapy in supporting older adults and their caregivers.
I joined the DClinPsy course team at Queen’s University as a Clinical Psychology Teaching Fellow in March 2024.
Research Interests
In line with my clinical work, my research interests include the use of non-pharmacological interventions in dementia care, wellbeing in older adults and their caregivers, and service development in older adult services.
Following on from completion of a PhD at Queen's University in 2017 I have an ongoing interest in the attentional processes underpinning substance use and misuse.
Teaching
My current teaching input within the university is delivered predominately at doctoral level, on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training, with content focused on my clinical areas of interest: older adults, compassion focused therapy and professional and personal development.
In addition to teaching within an academic context I am involved in the ongoing delivery of training to multi-disciplinary professionals.
