My research focuses on developing and applying AI, machine learning, deep learning and data analytics techniques to tackle challenges in digital health, with a specific emphasis on cancer research.
Research activity per year
Baharak is Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) expert. She is currently a lecturer (Education) at EEECS. She has obtained her PhD in Computer science from Queen’s university Belfast, MSc degree in Computer Engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University, Northern Cyprus, and BEng degree in Computer Engineering from Azad University, Iran. Prior to the current position, she had worked in both academic (as PostDoc) and industrial (as Software engineer and CEO of her Start-up Company) environments. In addition, Baharak is actively support women in Engineering and STEM. She delivered a workshop as a part of GirlsWhoML program to support members of under-represented gender groups (e.g. identifying female or non-binary) in order to familiarise them with machine learning concepts and skills. The workshop was developed by the university of Oxford and has been suported by Microsoft. She been involved in open days and PhD induction events at Queen's, been actively involved as the member of public engagement committee for Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research and Internationalization Committee for the EEECS and been president of the International Student Society at Queen’s University Belfast.

Applying Machine learning models in education in order to improve students learning outcome.
Developing data integration and analytical platform for bioinformatic interrogation of data related to animal models for cancer diseases.
Developing new AI-based algorithm and applying them into both Clinical and Animal model datasets across different cancer's molecular subtypes for classification.
