Research Interests

I’m a PhD student interested in financial and economic history, focusing on innovative firms and their influence on the UK economy over the long-run.  I believe the past is an invaluable tool for identifying patterns that help us understand present trends and make informed predictions on future financial performance.  My research explores the financing of innovative firms and their subsequent impact on the UK economy.  I utilize historic patent data to construct innovation scores for UK firms, enabling inferences across industry sub-sectors and over decadal time periods.  My interests also extend to; financial market structure, fixed income instruments, and financial derivatives.
