Personal profile

Dr Dan Corbett graduated from Queen's University with a First Class Honours degree in Pharmacy in 2010, subsequently completing his pre-registration training within the primary healthcare setting in Belfast. After registering as a Pharmacist in 2011, Dr Corbett returned to Queen’s to undertake a PhD in Biomaterials Science, under the supervision of Professors Colin McCoy and Sean Gorman, within the School of Pharmacy’s Pharmaceutical Science and Practice cluster. On graduating in 2014, Dan took responsibility for the School of Pharmacy’s student recruitment activities until late 2015, whilst also carrying out a number of teaching roles within professional practice aspects of the MPharm degree.

In late 2015, Dan undertook the role of Lecturer (Education) within the China Medical University-Queen's University Belfast Joint College (CQC), located in Shenyang, People's Republic of China, where, in addition to a host of teaching roles, was also responsible for the development of the College’s educational strategy, student support package (including in relation to academic English language), and a range of operational and management aspects. Dan subsequently took on the role of Programme Director for the Pharmaceutical Sciences degree within the College from mid-2017.

Dan now holds the post of Lecturer (Education) within the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queen’s, and amongst other roles, leads on the development of the School’s digital and blended educational resources, as well as supporting the School’s migration of its course content to Queen’s new learning management system, Canvas.

Dr Corbett's current research interests lie both in education, and more specifically, in relation to the education and support of international students, as well as in the development of polymer-based medical products which exhibit properties such as infection resistance, enhanced biocompatibility, and drug delivery.
