Dr Dan Corbett graduated from Queen's University with a First Class Honours degree in Pharmacy in 2010, subsequently completing his pre-registration training within the primary healthcare setting in Belfast. After registering as a Pharmacist in 2011, Dan returned to Queen’s to undertake a PhD in Biomaterials Science, under the supervision of Professor Colin McCoy and Professor Sean Gorman, within the School of Pharmacy’s Pharmaceutical Science and Practice cluster. On graduating in 2014, Dan took responsibility for the School of Pharmacy’s student recruitment and business development activities until late 2015, whilst also carrying out a number of teaching roles within professional practice aspects of the MPharm degree.
In late 2015, Dan undertook the role of Lecturer (Education) within the China Medical University-Queen's University Belfast Joint College (CQC), located in Shenyang, People's Republic of China, where, in addition to a host of teaching roles, was also responsible for the development of the College’s educational strategy, student support package (including in relation to academic English language), and a range of operational and management aspects. Dan subsequently took on the role of Programme Director for the Pharmaceutical Sciences degree within the College from mid-2017.
In late 2018, Dan joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queen's as a Lecturer (Education), with core responsibilites relating to the initial rollout and development of the School’s digital and blended educational resources, including use of the University's newly-acquired learning management system, Canvas. Dan also possessed significant roles in relation to curriculum development and innovation, language/communication skills support, outreach and business development, and quality assurance (including within the role of Examinations Liaision Officer). Dan also contributed to a number of roles at a Faculty level, including the provision of training to collegues in relation to effective digital education practices, and development of digital education infrastructure.
Dan is currently a Senior Lecturer (Digital Education) jointly appointed to CQC, and the School of Pharmacy at Queen's, with this role consisting of a number of critial responsibilities related to the enhancement of digital education provision within the School across its education and research portfolios, and more widely, at a Faculty level.
Dan's research interests focus on the effective development and implementation of digitally-enhanced learning from a range of aspects, including potentiated student success and perception, validity and efficiency of assessment, and professional practice, in addition to the enhancement of support for international students, and improvement of aspects related to equality, diversity, and inclusion within the curriculum.
