Personal profile
Research Interests
My research interests lie broadly in employee relations with particular interest in the various dynamics and organisational processes that are integral to creating positive working environments. Specifically, I have interests in conflict management, partnering and collaboration, and more recently, in diversity and inclusion. My current work often involves examining these issues within context of the non-profit sector and considers the disciplines of HRM, organisational behaviour and the sociology of work.
I am currently working on a number of projects: 1) Examining the insitutional changes taking place in response to the changing nature of workplace conflict in Anglo-American countries, with specfic interest in how public dispute resolution agencies are transforming. 2) Examining the nature of employee relations in the Non-Profit and Voluntary (NPV) sector with a particular interest on how contracts for the provision of public services impact NPV organisations and their employees/volunteers. 3) Examining diversity and inclusion in the NPV sector, and how the multiplicity of employee/ volunteer identity can be recognised and utilised for the benefit of NPV organisations and the service users they work with.
Teaching
I have delivered a range of modules in the broad areas of Human Resource Management, Employee Relations and Organizational Behaviour and have a particualr interest in teaching Negotiation and Conflict Management. I am currently teaching MGT7150 Employee Relations (MSc HRM) and Human Resource Management (BSc Business Management).
