Particulars

Donncha is a Reader in the School of Psychology and has expertise in the applied and theoretical research field of mental health with a Scopus h-index of 23 and a i10-index of 64. He was the Research Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at QUB for 6 years and is currently the School Post-Graduate Research Director. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed publications in the field of mental health and over 40 doctoral students have successfully graduated under his supervision. He has made repeat media appearances on a number of television shows including the Afternoon Show, the Daily show and You’re a Star.

 

Higher Education:                         

Bachelor of Science with 1st Class Honours in Psychology received from Queen’s University Belfast in 1999.

PhD awarded from Queen’s University Belfast in 2004.

Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching awarded from Queen’s University Belfast in 2005.

 

Research Interests

Donncha’s research focus on the measuring and modelling of risk & resilience factors for mental health and well-being. He has published widely on posttraumatic stress, posttraumatic growth, psychological resilience, psychosis and disassociation using a range of quantitative, psychometric and novel methodologies. Donncha is increasing engaged with the emerging discipline of digital mental health and wellbeing.

Teaching

Since being awarded a PGCHET in 2005 Donncha has been involved in delivering over 17 different modules and been module coordinator for 7 different modules at QUB. He was conferred the Queen's University Teaching Award by the Vice Chancellor in 2013.  

His teaching mainly focus on research methodologies and quantitative data analysis. He has published a bestselling statistics text book and a research methods text book.
