Personal profile
Research Focus
As a PhD candidate in genetics, I am committed to advancing genetic research using machine learning in the dairy sector across Northern Ireland. My interest in genetics stems from my experience as a research assistant specializing in plant genetics for Brassica oleracea cultivar development. The hands-on experience sourcing commercial cultivars and seed collections from seed banks worldwide fueled my passion for unravelling genetic mysteries in some of the most commonly eaten foods in the agri-food sector. Pursuing a PhD in Genetics through a prestigious studentship at Queen's University Belfast, awarded by the Foodbiosystems DTP, has given me an opportunity to work with a team at AFBI to integrate cutting-edge machine learning with genomics to drive breakthroughs. I am passionate about working closely with the team, personal development, education, and bringing people closer to food production.
