Teaching

Registered nurse with a specialist practice qualification in the care of older people.  Prior to my role in academia, I occupied the role of ward manager of an Acute Care of Older People ward within the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.

At Queen's University, I serve as the deputy pathway lead for all the Older People's Nursing Programmes. I lead the postgraduate short course in dementia care and lead the postgraduate module of Frailty, reablement and rehabilitation. Additionally, I coordinate the 'Professionalism in Nursing' module for first-year undergraduate nursing students.

Beyond Queen's University, I am an invited member of the regional dementia education workstream. My contributions to the field have also been recognised with a Cavell Award for excellence in the care of older people in 2022 and a Student Nursing Times Award for postgraduate education in gerontology in 2024.

Other roles include link lecturer for a number of clinical areas, personal tutor for a group of undergraduate student nurses and superivising MSc dissertation.
