Research Statement

I am currently undertaking a Ph.D. Research Project on using "Novel Tools for Quantifying and Managing Sediment and Nutrient Loss From Agricultural Land" between Queen's University Belfast, the University of Aberdeen, and the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institution under the NERC funded QUADRAT DTP. This research aims to improve water quality in terms of quantifying the potential sources and transfer mechanisms for sediment and nutrients from agricultural land. This project focuses on a range of field techniques including precision agriculture for soil and grass sampling, water sampling, and riverbank sampling to build a wide-ranging dataset on sediment and nutrient source areas. This data is then combined with remote sensing-based techniques such as drone imagery and modeling techniques in GIS software to understand and quantify the sources and pathways for sediment and nutrient losses and determine appropriate management techniques to improve catchment water quality.

My research skills and interests include using GIS software for modeling and mapping purposes (experience in ArcMap, ArcPro, QGIS) and using Excel and RStudio for statistical analysis.
