I completed my undergraduate degree at Ulster University in 2005. I then went on to complete a MSc degree in Applied Psychology (Ulster University, 2007), MSc Applied Forensic Psychology (York, 2010) and a PhD from Birmingham City University, 2015.
In addition I hold two postgraduate certificates; one in Advanced Research Methods and one in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Much of my research has centred around well-being at work, with a particular focus on uniformed occupations, especially prison officers. I am interested in how high-stress, unusual occupations affect psychological well-being.
More recently, I am also focused on pedagogical research and student experience (to include what effective learning looks like and 'means' in Higher Education and also how employability can and should be developed at university).
I am an experienced qualitative researcher.
I am a L2 personal tutor
L3 thesis supervisor
DECAP doctoral second supervisor
