Research Interests

Dr Campbell’s research programme focuses on host-microbiota interactions in the gut. Dysbiosis (altered microbiota composition/diversity) is a feature of numerous inflammatory and autoimmune conditions implicated in Inflammatory Bowel Disease(s), Diabetes, Obesity and Cancer. Epithelial cells act as a dynamic interface between the microbiome and the underlying immune system. Our group is interested in strategically targeting mucosal epithelial function with a view to correcting dysbiosis and mitigate chronic inflammation.
