Evie is an ESRC (NINE DTP) funded PhD candidate in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work and the Centre for Children's Rights. Her research focusses on the intersection between children’s education rights and their civil and political rights in the context of school protests. Evie's research seeks to conceptualise how teachers can contribute to schools becoming environments in which children feel capable and safe to express their civil and political rights, such as through protest. For her thesis, Evie explores the example of the 2020/21 White Ribbon student protests in Bangkok, Thailand.
Alongside her studies, Evie is a post-graduate teaching assistant in social policy, and is a research associate, network administrator and academic events cooordinator for the Centre for Children's Rights.
