Research Statement

I am a Senior Lecturer in Data Analytics, and part of the Mathematical Sciences Research Centre in the School of Mathematics and Physics.

In 2020 I created the Northern Ireland Centre for Health Analytics and Decision Science.

My research mainly focuses on combining the areas of data analytics and decision modelling for applications to medicine. In particular my research interests span various areas and is naturally interdisciplinary. I have particular interest in:

-       Multistate Modelling
-       Machine Learning
-       Cost-Effectiveness Analysis/Health Technology Assessment
-       Causal Inference and Confounder Bias
-       Survival Analysis

I have experience in working on projects from multiple disease areas including cancer, rare diseases, diabetes, COVID-19 and heart disease. I have also worked with intervention and screening modelling. Currently I am exploring how Northern Ireland could benefit from more decision modelling/pharmacoeconomic assessment.

Other affiliations I have are:
-       Statistical Advisor at the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics, Dublin, Ireland.
-       Adjunct Researcher at the Institute for Public Health, Medical Decision Making and HTA at the University for Health Sciences Informatics and Technology (UMIT), Austria.
-       Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
