Research Focus

My research focus is the literature and language of medieval and early modern Ireland. I am currently working on a PhD project, Set Adrift: Fluidity in the Medieval Irish Immrama, looking specifically at a voyage tale about two of Colum Cille’s clerics. This project will create a new edition and translation of a version of this tale called Sechrán Clérech Coluim Chille.

Research Interests

  • Textual transmission, reuse and intertextuality in medieval and early modern Irish literary sources
  • Textual editing and translation
  • Critical frameworks such as cultural memory and ecocriticism
  • Digital humanities
  • Comparative studies in northern medieval cultures
