Research Focus

Professor Ganna Pogrebna is a pioneer in Behavioural Data Science, an award-winning academic executive, and an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Behavioural Science, Leadership, and Operations Research. She is the inaugural David Trimble Chair in Leadership and Organisational Transformation at Queen’s Business School, where her work focuses on the social, ethical, and behavioural dimensions of emerging technologies—particularly in applications spanning leadership, organisational behaviour, operations, and cybersecurity. Previously, Professor Pogrebna held the position of Professor of Behavioural Business Analytics and Data Science at the University of Sydney and served as Executive Director of the AI and Cyber Futures Institute, where she led the Institute from inception to national recognition as Australia’s Research Institution of the Year in 2025. She also spearheaded the Behavioural Data Science stream at The Alan Turing Institute, where she helped develop globally recognised frameworks for responsible AI, algorithmic auditing, and cyber risk governance. Her international academic appointments include positions at the University of Birmingham, University of Warwick, University of Bonn, and Columbia University in New York. She continues to collaborate widely across Europe, the US, the Indo-Pacific, and Central Asia.

Research Interests

With an academic background spanning economics, decision theory, engineering, and computer science, Professor Pogrebna combines deep scholarly expertise with a strong entrepreneurial focus. She consults widely with industry and is a founder contributing to the development of several spinout ventures focused on explainable AI and emerging technologies. Her current projects explore the use of digital twins for strategic decision simulation, behavioural AI for enterprise insight generation, and data-driven resilience modelling in defence, climate security, and national AI preparedness.
