Research Focus

Gemma is a Lecturer in Sociology and Quantitative Methods in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work. Her research interests are in the areas of assessment, educational inequalities, psychometrics and advanced statistical methods. 

She was previously a postdoctoral researcher in Assessment in the Centre for Assessment Research, Policy and Practice in Education (CARPE) at Dublin City University. 

Her current research considers the impact of Artifical Intelligence (AI) on high-stakes assessments. This research is being conducted in collaboration with the Education, Regulated Learning and Assessment (ERLA) group. 

Gemma is an 'Accredited Researcher' with the Office for National Statistics.
