Research Focus

Holly is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for Public Health. She is currently working on a project to develop system-oriented interventions to reduce car dependency in Belfast for improved population health, led by Professor Ruth Hunter and Dr Leandro Garcia.

Prior to joining Queen's University Belfast, Holly completed her PhD at the Active Travel Academy at the University of Westminster. This explored children's neighbourhood mobility and their use of the public spaces in their neighbourhoods both for getting around and play. She also worked as a research associate exploring the changing use of green space in London during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Holly's research interests span across the topics of public health, physical activity and urban planning. She has experience in using systems thinking and a mix of qualitative methods to support her work. She has also worked in practice, both in urban planning and in research and evaluation.
