Personal profile

Research Focus

I am a social historian of modern Britain and Ireland, focusing on the experiences of migrants and minority communities during the twentieth century. My research uses oral history to explore identity and belonging in British and Irish contexts, exploring how people from minority backgrounds engage with conceptions of Britishness and Irishness.

I have published on these themes in journals including: Immigrants and MinoritiesOral HistoryIrish Studies ReviewJournal of Migration History and Irish Historical Studies.

My first monograph, Migrants, Immigration and Diversity in Twentieth-century Northern Ireland: British, Irish or 'Other’? was published in 2023 by Palgrave Macmillan.

I have previously worked at the University of Manchester and Maynooth University.
