Research Interests

I am interested in themes related to international/transnational history. My PhD thesis looks into the roles of governments and the international organisations in managing or resolving the refugee question. In particular, I am exploring the case of the White Russians and Indochinese refugees in the Philippines during the Cold War period and the involvement of the United Nations and the organisations under its system (e.g. IRO and UNHCR). I am supervised by Dr. Eric Morier-Genoud, Dr. Emma Reisz and Dr. Aglaia de Angeli.

I am a faculty member of the Department of History, College of Arts and Social Sciences at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). Prior to my study-leave for PhD studies at Queen’s I taught Philippine history and handled a few courses on modern East Asia and some selected topics on contemporary European history.
