Personal profile

Research Interests

I am interested in themes related to international/transnational history. My PhD thesis looks into the roles of governments and the international organisations in managing or resolving the refugee question. In particular, I am exploring the case of the Russian/Soviet refugees in the Philippines during the Cold War period and the involvement of the United Nations and the organisations under its system (e.g. IRO and UNHCR). I am supervised by Dr. Eric Morier-Genoud and Dr. Emma Reisz.

Teaching

I am a faculty member of the Department of History, College of Arts and Social Sciences at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). Prior to my study-leave for PhD studies at Queen’s I taught Philippine history and handled a few courses on modern East Asia and some selected topics on contemporary European history.
