Research Focus
I am a PhD student working on the project: ‘’Multi-Proxy Investigation Of The Effects Of A Drying Climate on Peatlands And Human Activity"
My research focuses on investigating ancient climates and their relationship to peatland environments. Applying a multi-proxy approach to sediment cores from peatlands across Northern Ireland and Scotland this project aims to apply data collected on pollen, testate amoebae, macrofossils, carbon and oxygen isotopes and tephrochronology to reconstruct past changes in climate peatland vegetation and peat formation.
The project is supervised by Dr Gill Plunkett, Prof. Graeme Swindles and Prof. Jo Smith (University of Aberdeen) in collaboration with AFBI, and is QUADRAT DTP funded.
