Dr Jasna Mariotti is Senior Lecturer in Architecture at Queen’s University Belfast. She studied architecture in Skopje and at Delft University of Technology and received her PhD on post-socialist cities and their transformation at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana (2014). Previously she was architect and urban designer in WEST 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture in Rotterdam working on master plans and public space design.

Her current research focuses on the relationship between urban history, planning and architecture in the 20^th and 21^st centuries, linking two main themes. The first one focuses on architecture and urban planning under the influence of political organizations and mechanisms of production of space in socialist and post-socialist countries. The second one relates to the architecture of mass housing in particular to the spontaneous and planned practices of transformation of housing estates and changing notions of habitation.

Her teaching is built on place-making and identifying challenging spatial conditions for urban interventions in different scales. At Queen’s University Belfast Jasna Mariotti co-leads Stage 3, coordinates Technology and Environment I and supervises Humanities dissertations group on the Architecture of mass housing.
