Research Interests

During my research I aim to investigate the effectiveness of Telehealth as a means of delivering behaviour analytic interventions to children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Interventions based upon the science of behaviour analysis have been shown to be effective at improving child and parental well-being and have a strong evidence base (McPhilemy & Dillenburger, 2013).

A successful behaviour analytic intervention should involve the input of highly skilled professionals, who are educated to master's level and have extensive supervised clinical practice experience. This expertise is often difficult to come by in more remote areas of the country and access to quality behaviour analytical interventions can be difficult. Digital technology has revolutionized healthcare opening up services to remote locations whilst simultaneously reducing cost (Kessler et al., 2009). Video technology can be utilised to provide clinical expertise in behaviour analysis directly into the home of families and additional technology can be used to analyse data and allow the experts to remotely evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. During my research I will assess the efficacy of such interventions at improving measures of child and parental well being.
