I am looking for PhD and Postdoc candidates to work on advanced battery characterisation, novel battery diagnostics, multiscale battery modelling and battery data-driven models.
1. PhD studentship "Multiscale Modelling of Lithium-ion Battery Technology" (https://www.qub.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate-research/phd-opportunities/multiscale-modelling-of-lithiumion-battery-technology.html), open to UK and ROI nationals, and to EU nationals with settled status in the UK.
2. China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Queen's University Belfast PhD scholarships (https://www.qub.ac.uk/Study/international-students/international-scholarships/china/queens-university-china-scholarship-council-phd-scholarships-2025): 20 scholarships for Chinese students per year.

Particulars

I am a Lecturer in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast and a Visiting Lecturer at University College London. Prior to this appointment, I was a research fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University College London and Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. I received my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Singapore and Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. 

My research focuses on multiscale and multiphysics battery characterisation, diagnostics, modelling and thermal management. I have developed significant expertise in design, model, fabrication, characterisation and test of many sustainable energy devices and systems for energy conversion and storage, air conditioning, and thermal management.

Achievements

I have published more than 30 international top journals articles, including in leading journals in the field, such as Energy & Environmental Science, Energy Storage Materials, Small, Communications Engineering, Energy Conversion and Management, and Applied Energy, and a book "Indirect Dew-Point Evaporative Cooling: Principles and Applications" in Springer Nature.
