Research Interests

Fellow in Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine (Marie Curie Researcher Fellow) at Queen's University Belfast, linked to the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute of Experimental Medicine (WWIEM) under Dr. Anna Krasnodembskaya's supervision. Research Fellow in Regenerative Medicine under Dr. Anna Krasnodembskaya (2018-2020) at Queen's University Belfast. Previos post-doctorate (2014-2018) in Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine, under Dr. Patricia Rocco's supervision, linked to the Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IBCCF, UFRJ). Doctor and Master in Biological Sciences (Physiology). He completed a visiting Ph.D. (PDSE-CAPES) at Semmelweis University School of Medicine - Budapest/Hungary (2012-2013). Graduated in Physiotherapy from the Serra dos Õrgãos University Center (2007/2). Has experience in Physiology, with a focus on Respiratory Physiology and Advanced Therapies in Respiratory Diseases, working mainly in research related to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, pulmonary inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction and cell therapy. Has expertise in biomedical research, such as physiological measurements of pulmonary function (in vivo, ex vivo, in vitro), cell culture and analysis techniques, 3D models (PCLSs and pulmonary organoids) and molecular biology techniques. He studies the therapeutic potential of extracellular vesicles derived from stromal mesenchymal cells in lung inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic reprogramming by extracellular vesicles, and molecular profile of extracellular vesicles (secretome, transcriptome, proteomics and myrnoma).
