Research Statement

I am wrapping up a project on God’s relationship to time and the metaphysics of events.  The purpose of the project is to develop a theory of events which provides the foundation for a plausible and coherent account of God’s relation to time.

I have also started working on a new project entitled ‘The Metaphysics of Theological Anthropology.’  The goal of the project is to provide a theologically informed metaphysics of the human person.  Specifically, given the Christian doctrines of creation, fall, redemption, resurrection, and final judgment, the project will seek to provide a systematic account of the nature of human persons which both metaphysically grounds and elucidates these doctrines.  Questions which the project will address include: Does a biblically and philosophically informed conception of human personhood require a relational or non-relational account of the imago Dei?  Is there a distinct metaphysics required for the different theological phases of humankind?  And what bearing do the answers to these questions have on eschatology?
