PhD projects

I am open to supervise original projects related to translation in the context of education, epistemology, and the flow of knowledges across cultures. I am also interested in projects focusing on legal translation; environmental literacy and climate change; or German language and culture.

Personal profile

Research Interests

I am interested in global education and the way in which intergovernmental organisations advance a 'global' discourse of what we should know, why, and how. In this context, my research investigates what happens to diverse knowledges and what role translation plays.

I am also interested in translation as a tool of access and equality, specifically in the contexts of audio description and community interpreting.

Teaching

I teach on the MA Translation and on the Liberal Arts programmes.

Informed by my professional practice, I teach Specialised Translation (with focus on legal translation) as well as Principles of Community Interpreting. I also teach Audiovisual Translation which includes the use of subtitling software and audio description practice.

I am convenor of the Level One module 'Understanding Now: The Climate Crisis' which aims to provide students with a holistic, interdisciplinary understanding of the global climate crisis we are facing.
