Personal profile

Particulars

I am an HCPC-registered Specialist Clinical Psychologist working in the area of adult mental health. I graduated from Queen's University Belfast (QUB) with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) in 2015. Following completion of the doctorate, I held clinical posts in respiratory and stroke.

Alongside my clinical role, I work as a Clinical Teaching Fellow on the DClinPsy course at QUB.

My primary areas of interest are working with adults with low mood, anxiety and complex trauma as well as issues of adjustment. I also enjoy working in multidisciplinary settings with the aim of supporting all staff to provide more holistic, psychologically-informed care to patients and clients. I enjoy doing this using an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-based approach.

I am a member of the Division of Clincal Psychology within the British Psychological Society.

Research Interests

My main research interests are in the areas of adult mental health and adjustment to illness. My DClinPsy thesis focused on management and mental health in diabetes (types I and II) and I have recently contributed to the ImPACT Stroke and ImPACT II Stroke research projects, providing guidance as well as acting as facilitator for the ACT-informed group online intervention.

Teaching

I provide teaching across the DClinPsy programme in the areas of personal and professional development, the theory and applications of ACT with various populations and EDI-related topics.
